Hmmmm not quite sure about all the positive reviews but I know for sure being in 'the biz' people are less vocal about their experience if they have a bad time ...they just don't go back. Which we will never next time we're in town.
We travel to Mont Tremblant to ski often and always make it a stop to do a day in Montreal and have actually been to this very place last year and enjoyed it. I don't know what happened this time but here's the rundown.
We arrived around 4:30 on a Saturday and the place was full. We got a table and the only reason for the two stars is because of the 'game attendants' who were very nice and the selection of games. However the, I'm guessing manager, and the waitress need a serious lesson on customer service. Right away we received a bit of an attitude from both when we didn't respond to them in 'Quebec-French'....not traditional French and we're not in Paris so get over yourselves please. All the surrounding provinces speak English, get over it. We each ordered double Bulleit bourbon neat and nachos and that was the last we EVER saw our waitress except when she quickly dumped off our microwaved cheese covered chips with two small cocktail napkins and no plates or anything. Never came back once to check on us and our glasses stayed empty the entire hour we were there. Granted they were busy but that is no excuse I've been a bartender for 13 years and even when I'm in the weeds I make it a point to check on everyone at least once.
The worst part is the 'manager' went around EVERY table around us and gave waters which we were told were 'self serve' by the waitress and brought two other tables right around us second rounds and additional games. He chatted them all up in their native language while we were completely ignored and when we wanted to change games I had to get up and track down a 'game attendant' on my own. It was pretty pathetic.
We decided to leave as we were treated way better at other surrounding haunts and the 'manager' asked "leaving already?" To which I replied "yes well we couldn't get drinks from the waitress for about an hour so we are leaving" and he said AND I QUOTE ..."oh well". I scoffed and couldn't believe what he said.
There was a line of local nerds out the door that I'm sure will get much better service than us English speaking American tourists. The sad thing is I'm a 13 year bartender that has worked all over the United States from Miami to Manhattan and for DECENT service I tip 25% on the ENTIRE bill. Including the insane Canadian tax, because that's just what I do. Not here. For the first time ever in my life I told my husband as he filled out the tip..."let's get the hell out of here just give her 15% the last time we saw her face it was on a milk carton". No thank you. Never again. Infuriating.
