| - Just a plain odd experience all around. After stopping in two other nail salons in Mentor, which had long wait times, we found Lily's where no one was waiting. It probably should have been a sign...
We were greeted right away, but that was about the best thing I can say about the place. I asked for a pedicure and possibly a shellac manicure, and my daughter wanted a pedicure and manicure. Even wrote it down on the sign in sheet!
They started me on the pedicure and my daughter on the manicure. The woman who did my pedicure smiled at me once at the end. Otherwise she didn't make eye contact or speak and was kind of rough all around. It was uncomfortable to say the least. The water was cold and she splashed it all over me more than once. I was wearing a skirt and it got soaked.
I felt like it was closing time and everyone was just ready to leave.
The place was filthy and there were screaming kids pushing rolling chairs around over half the time we were there. So not only was it not relaxing, I actually got a headache...the mom made feeble attempts at quieting them. Everyone else ignored them.
When my daughter's manicure was done they didn't move her to the pedicure chair. In fact, they didn't say anything to her, the woman just left her sitting there. Then when I was done the same happened to me.
No one asked if my daughter was ready for her pedicure or if I had decided on the shellac. No one asked for our money. What I assume to be husband, wife, and grandma were all sitting relaxing in the pedicure chairs looking half asleep.
Finally, I got up and sat with my daughter...thinking they would tell us when she was done. When it became clear no one was going to say a word I asked if we were done (she didn't want to stay a second longer let alone get a pedicure at this point) and everyone ignored us except the man who shook his head yes.
When we got up the older woman causally came to the front and mumbled $45. She ran my card and then I asked for change for a $20 to tip. I tried handing the tip to her and she walked away. I did walk it back to the ladies, but thinking back on it if I had to do it over I would have just walked out...I guess since I was a server in my youth I understand how important tips are so I never have the heart not to tip.
Obviously, I will not be back and I do not recommend this place. I'm not sure what the deal was today. Hopefully it was just an off day for them, otherwise, I'm not sure how they will stay in business.
At least our nails do look nice...
