| - I had been searching for a place in cleveland to do hot yoga or Bikram yoga, and stumbled upon Marcia's website. A co-worker and i headed to her post-holiday detox yoga workshop yesterday, and really enjoyed it.
The class wasn't too crowded, and was a mixture of poses you may have done in Bikram but also some sun salutations, journalling, and yoga nidra, which i hadn't done before. it isn't quite as hot as bikram, where they heat the room to over 100, but hot yoga is done in a room about 90 degrees. still kicks your butt, so you walk away feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
The instructor was really knowledgable, beginner friendly, and just all around friendly. then again, i'm not sure i've ever met a yoga instructor that was screaming at me and telling me to eff off. kinda would defeat the purpose of yoga. yogis aren't mean. at least, they aren't in the studio.
i really enjoyed yesterday's workshop. sad that there aren't regular bikram or hot yoga offerings in the city, but if you're looking to continue your hot yoga schedule as much as possible, check out her website for different classes and workshops.
edit 2/17/08: i just wanted to add a bit since i've taken several of marcia's classes now. she is a really great instructor for beginners. she explains everything in detail and makes everyone feel really comfortable and ready to attempt any posture. if you're a beginner or thinking about attempting yoga, definitely try marcia's classes. if you've done yoga before, she'll help you refine and understand more about what you do and why you do it.
great classes. and the studio she's working out of right now is a great atmosphere. skylights, warmly colored walls, and not too big to lose the hot yoga heat.
