This review is not about the merchandise available at AT, which I like a lot. Rather, I have been moved to write a review of the Scottsdale Fashion Square location because the staff there are consistently and persistently -- and even aggressively -- horrible.
Before I continue, let me say that I love the Biltmore location and have always been treated well there.
Other reviewers have noted the lousy customer service at this location and I agree; however, it cannot be blamed on the customer's appearance. I've been treated horribly there when I was dressed to the nine's and when I was dressed for the gym; today, I was abused while on the phone and being as sweet as I could be (see, I was geared up for the abuse in advance). So how it ain't about how you look.
Some specifics. They are:
rude
obnoxious
clueless about their own merchandise
too busy doing nothing to be bothered
And it is nothing new. For years this has been going on. I try to avoid the place but every now and then I am in the mall and it is convenient and I think I will give them another chance -- well today was their last chance and I am done.
It can't be a corporate thing since I have such a great time at my Biltmore location or when I shop by phone or online with AT. It is this one spot. Don't know if it is a trickle-down thing or what, sometimes you get a bad apple in charge and they hire grumps or maybe they treat their employees so badly they turn them into sourpusses. Whatever, it should not be my problem.
If they wonder why customers are going 100% online for their Ann Taylor needs, I offer this review as a clue. To the Fashion Square staff, some advice: Drop the attitude; you're just a clerk in a store.
