| - I have been shopping at this Safeway since it opened, somewhere around 15 years, perhaps more. There are several things that have been consistent through the years. It is a very clean store. The Bag Boys are the most friendly and helpful employees in the store. The Flower and Gift Department is beautiful with a large selection. The deli workers are some of the grumpiest people I have ever met in my life, and bark at any customer that calls to them when they are doing something else. I avoid these people like the plague.
All the reviews on the long lines, are true. It is very rare that there are more than two lanes open.
Which brings me to my most recent event at Safeway, and this one seems to be district wide:
Since I wrote an email to Safeway Corporation, I will just copy and paste my letter:
To Whom it may Concern:
Recently, I have had three of my favorite items from the Frozen Foods Department, discontinued, and this last one has me furious! Why are you discontinuing healthy foods? We have so many people in the U.S. that are trying very hard to eat better and your store is making this harder.
I was so upset about the Safeway in my neighborhood scaling back on Lean Cuisine dinners that I did research into it. It is someone at your district level who made the decision. Before that it was frozen, organic, white and brown rice. Now, the most recent discontinued product is ALL Smart Ones by Weight Watchers. Uggh, I am so frustrated with the person making the decisions at your corporate level!
I do not have any health problems or allergies; I simply prefer to eat healthy. Smart Ones uses real ingredients, for example, real eggs in their scrambles, not powdered. They are careful with their sodium input, and of course they are all low in fat content.
Frozen dinners are a staple for my work lunches. I work for an airline and these meals are how I eat healthy on the road; which in my field is three to fours days every week.
I imagine you will check my buying history to verify my claim; I have been buying frozen dinners from Safeway for years. It is a HUGE part of my reason for grocery shopping and will have to fulfill it elsewhere. Not only have you forced me to do some of my shopping at a competitor's store, you have irritated a loyal customer.
