| - A colleague had a spare takeaway box of the Chicken Biryani with mango halwa and yogurt from here, which he very kindly shared with us, and refused to take payment for, so I have no idea as to cost or what the restaurant looks like, so this review is strictly on that one dish and accompaniments.
So the takeaway box was layered in such a way that the chicken pieces were placed at the bottom and then the rice was on top of the meat and there was a hard boiled egg, raw onions, slice of lemon and cilantro included in the box as well.
I liked the taste of the rice, but it wasn't massively spectacular or special in any way and I also didn't eat any of the chicken or mix it on with the rice. The virulently red coloring of the chicken scared me off from trying it, as I have previously found that I'm allergic to that red colouring. However my friend who ate it said the chicken was super spicy and she ate it with the yogurt to calm the burn down.
While I was indifferent about the biryani rice, I really really loved the mango halwa. I've never had this kind of a halwa before, and it was a revelation. The Mango flavour really shown thru (I reckon it was a can of Alphonso mango pulp) and when mixed with the semolina made into the halwa, it was wonderfully light and flavorful. My plan is to try and recreate it at home, and so totally recommend this dessert!
