While visiting Las Vegas last summer, my friend and I decided to get manicures and pedicures done to treat ourselves. We happened to be eating at the Schlotzky's next door and saw the Academy of Hair Design and thought we'd give it a chance. I get my hair cut and colored at a cosmetology school back home in Bakersfield so I understand that the people working here are students still in training, though they work under the supervision of instructors.
We signed in and scheduled manis and pedis. They took us in pretty quickly and were able to accommodate our request to be seated next to each other. The students were very friendly and chatted with us the entire time they were working on us. Yes, it took longer than it would at a regular salon, but the prices were significantly lower so it was still a very good deal. The student working on my friend was a lot faster than the girl working on me, so my friend had finished her pedi was already halfway through her mani by the time my girl finished my pedi, but my girl did such a good job I have absolutely no complaints!!
We both left feeling pampered and pretty and it didn't break our pocketbook. I call this a huge WIN for us.
