  • Oh Riviera...how you've aged. Actually, well I'm assuming it's been around for awhile just by the looks of it. We were going to stay at another hotel in the suburbs, but then decided it was too far from everything. My friend called hotels.com and booked a room at The Riviera sitting in the other hotel lobby. This room was $39 per night, which was about half the price of the suburbia hotel. Honestly, it was okay for what we were doing. Our kids really only cared about swimming, which was where a majority of our time was spent. Is it the most luxurious hotel? No, it's not. It actually will probably need to be updated soon. With the Wynn and Encore on the south side, the new SLS Hotel (used to be Sahara, I believe) to the north and across the street a huge Asian inspired resort hotel...it's only within time that The Riviera and Circus Circus will need to up their game. Anyways, back to the hotel. It's smaller, which I actually like. I hate trekking across what seems forever in those larger hotels. But I also like the nicer amenities in those hotels. Fluffy towels, cloud-like beds and amazing swimming pools. This is NOT what you're going to get from this hotel. But you kinda get what you pay for. When we stayed at the hotel, the blind convention was going on as well as the Junior NBA's. So there was a lot of people with dogs and teenagers running around the hotel. I'd say that this isn't the spot to kick it...but if you're looking to sleep, shower and pre-game at a good price, you can do it here. If I'm on a budget, I might come back. But I seriously love staying in nice hotels, so I probably won't be back until they upgrade. But the staff - bellboys (actually men, but that sounds weird), front desk clerks, valet were all really nice. But like others said, the pool closes promptly at 8PM. Seems so weird to me, it's so early and not even dark. My kids didn't believe me until the lifeguard told them to get out, lol.
