  • Just so you know where I'm coming from, this review is written by a gal who has attended at least 25 barre classes from 5 different brands of barre. I can honestly say that my two classes at The Dailey Method Scottsdale were the worst barre classes overall that I've ever attended. After a super lukewarm greeting from the woman at the front desk, I was surprised to learn that she was also the teacher. I was obviously new to their studio and this particular brand of barre class. When she was asking me questions during my sign-up, she was so stoic. At the very least, an instructor should at least pretend to be happy to be there! She continuously gave directions and adjustments during the class, but the whole class felt like it lacked a certain amount of joy, and dare I say, fun? Don't get me wrong, all of the moves were challenging, but the class lacked a warm vibe. After the class, the instructor said to do something that I did not understand and then I saw some regulars walk to a high bar at the back of the room and hang from it for 10 seconds. Thanks for explaning that to me, a Dailey Method newbie! I took another class the next day from the owner, she was a bit more encouraging and vibrant as an instructor. She did make adjustments, not quite gently, I might add. She reminded me of Amy Sedaris, so that was a bonus. I would recommend trying out another barre chain if you are in the area. Pure Barre teachers (taken in LA, not Scottsdale) can also be hit or miss, but at least there is a nicer flow to Pure Barre classes and the music selection is more current.
