  • Few years ago Blue Banana used to have a cafe with amazing vegan chocolate cupcakes. We were surprised that on our return visit that the cafe was no longer there and we didn't know the name of the baker of those delicious cupcakes. Sufficie to say that all we knew was that it was a person who was baking in a rented kitchen and that was all. We found out OMG is the same baker of those delicious cupcakes...We high tailed over there today but sadly, they aren't quite the same from what we remembered. First off, we distinctively remember the cupcakes at BB were HUGE with generous frosting. But, our cupcakes today were normal sized, not the massive ones we remember from before. I had the red velvet, it was light but I didn't taste red velvet or a distinct taste. I also saw that the red coloring or powder wasn't mixed enough because there was a part that was yellowish (butter perhaps or just cake batter). It lacked the flavour of a dlish red velvet, but also didn't crumble as easily as a dlish cupcake (which I like). I may make a special trip to try out the cupcakes again one more time before I make my final decision about this place.
