  • Alright, this review is going to be lengthy so I will post a TL;DR at the end. I called in today around 5pm and asked for a reservation for 6, the hostess told me that they are totally booked for tonight, and I asked if there was anything they could do. She told me she could squeeze us in at 5:45. That's all I needed to hear. I rushed over to Scottsdale and got there at exactly 5:45. We were seated immediately. The overall ambiance of this place was very pleasant. The atmosphere was modern, the lighting was great, and the staff were extremely friendly. I can't for the life of me remember the name of our waiter, but he was extremely polite, professional, and knowledgeable of the menu. I went for the Omakase (I'll leave it up to you, Chef's Choice) and LET ME JUST SAY, I'M DEFINITELY GLAD I DID. The Omakase started with the Butterfish Tataki w/ White Asparagus and Yuzu. This melted in my mouth like butter and the flavors were deep and complex, very enjoyable. Next was the Shishito Peppers w/ Ponzu and Bonito Flakes. The peppers had great flavor and were grilled to perfection. Definitely a nice follow-up to the Butterfish. Then we had the seasonal Oysters, but since I'm not a big fan, I asked the waiter if the chef could swap it out for something else instead. Boy did the Chef deliver. The Sashimi Platter was definitely a highlight. Our waiter brought us some sushi ready rice as a side for the platter to compliment the sashimi. We had Salmon, Yellowtail, Amberjack, and 4 large pieces of Premium Fatty Tuna (O Toro) to substitute the Oysters. The fish was nice and fatty and had amazing flavor. The rice was extremely light and tasty. Combined it was an awesome part of the overall courses. Prime Beef Tataki w/ Truffle Jus and Pickled Shallots was OUT OF THIS WORLD! The flavor was incredible and the meat was nice and tender, cooked to perfection. It melted like butter in my mouth. The umami flavor was noticeable in this dish. Then came one of the best courses of the whole night. Boiled Snow Crab w/ the most amazing Yuzu/Ponzu glaze/marinade ever! OH MY GOD IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD! So juicy and tender... man, just absolutely out of this world. Yuzu/Miso Marinated Black Cod w/ Pickled Onions had the most intense umami flavor out of all of the dishes I had tonight. The Cod had already been seared w/ the marinade, but it also had a nice amount on the plate as well for a more intense flavor. Mix in some sweet pickled onions on top and talk about a taste bud experience. All the flavors blended well together for something absolutely unique. Crispy Brussel Sprouts w/ Japanese Mustard and Bonito was next. The flavor was rich w/ the mustard and bonito complimented w/ the bold flavor of the Brussel Sprouts. This was a dish that shined for sure. The Pork Belly with Black Garlic Miso and Pickled Grapes was another umami experience. The salty and fatty pieces of pork belly combined with the sour/sweet pickled grapes and the umami flavored garlic miso sauce merged into the perfect trifecta of flavors. THE GRAND FINALE WAS THE JAPANESE GRADE A5+ WAGYU BEEF W/ HAWAIIAN SALT, TRUFFLE SALT, AND SMOKED CURRY SALT. HOLY SHIT THIS WAS EASILY THE JUICIEST, BUTTERY, TENDER, MELT IN YOUR MOUTH STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD. IT WAS COOKED MEDIUM RARE (RECOMMENDED) AND HAD GREAT FLAVOR W/ OR W/O THE DIFFERENT SALT OPTIONS. THE PRESENTATION WAS INCREDIBLE AND THE EXECUTION WAS UNFORGETTABLE. Lastly, we had the assorted dessert platter w/ fresh fruit (Strawberry, Raspberry, Blueberry, Blackberry, Cantaloupe, Honey Dew Melon, Watermelon, Kiwi). It also included a yuzu lemonade sorbet that was INCREDIBLY, a raspberry mango sorbet that was sensational, a Matcha Green Tea Flan w/ Passion-fruit macaroons that was light and flavorful, and a chocolate souffle w/ peanut butter ice cream and candied peanuts on top to die for. They also have a Yuzu Lemonade that is $7 but worth every cent it's soooooo good! TL;DR Standout dishes were the Prime Rib Tataki, Boiled Snow Crab, Pork Belly, and Wagyu Steak. All in all, this was a 10/10 dining experience as we sat for 3 hours enjoying this unbelievable Omakase. If you go, trust the chef and get the most out of your restaurant experience.
