| - Slowly but surely, I am surprisingly discovering a handful of authentic and awesome Japanese restaurants located in Pennsylvania. After seeing okonomiyaki as a staple on Teppanyaki's menu, I knew a visit while in Pittsburgh was a must!
Following the advice of Yelp, we made reservations for a Saturday night, but ended not needing them since the place was mostly empty when we arrived. We were seated at the bar (where you can watch the chefs prepare the orders) and ordered the gyoza appetizer, a pork yaki-udon (noodles), and custom okonomiyaki. All three dishes were flavorful and fresh! Even with the additional wait for the okonomiyaki, it was a very enjoyable meal.
The only downside was when we left. We were the last two customers at the restaurant around 9:15-30PM, and they were hustling us out the door. I checked online beforehand and after, and Yelp/Google confirmed their closing time on Saturday to be 10:30PM. I am not sure if this was a special circumstance where they were closing early, but we felt very rushed. Even as we left, someone mistook us for arriving customers and shouted "WE ARE CLOSED!"
