  • This is my first hair salon review, because I've gone to the same stylist since I was four but decided to try Crazy Mullets because it came highly recommended, is closer to home, and I was quoted $60 cheaper over the phone for my typical partial highlights and haircut (which is a huge savings to any poor grad student!). I asked for a recommendation over the phone, and was assigned Cameron. The front desk girl declined to tell me, however, that his base rates are higher and that toner is an additional $20 (and a required treatment, but it's left out of the price for the color for some reason). At the end of the appointment, I didn't have the heart to tell my stylist that my color is terrible because I'd already been there 3 hours and there was nothing more to be done. Cameron was friendly, chatty, and easygoing, he gave me a nice trim, but I paid through the nose to basically get a trim and have my hair dyed my natural dark blonde color, wiping away any lighter blonde left from my last highlight 8 months ago. Moreover, the salon had an odor of cigarettes, and my stylist's hands also had a very strong cigarette smell and were by my face the entire time. The experience was also far too slow, I sat in a chair after my foils were put in for over 20 minutes before being moved to the outdated heated dryers, where I sat another 15 minutes with it on extremely high heat before anyone checked on me. The salon is also fairly bare-bones, beverages offered were nothing special, and it didn't feel like an "experience" that one should feel when paying over $160 after tip, particularly when my salon in Chagrin Falls (Scott Fisher Salon) is the same price but extremely elegant and with top-of-the-line styling tools. I came home in tears after I also had a negative experience calmly talking to the manager about how I was misled about pricing, and I regret that what should have been a great experience that leaves someone feeling confident and beautiful instead left me anxious about my budget and feeling ugly. I learned my lesson: if someone has cut your hair beautifully for over 20 years, don't leave them!
