| - For the price Jennifer Lopez is commanding for her Vegas residency, I expected a Beyonce- or Celine Dion-level show. Sadly, J. Lo is not delivering like the previously mentioned ladies.
The show starts with some pretty cool special effects, with a Lopez voiceover speaking to taking the stairs instead of the elevator (so that's how she got that behind!), and setting the stage for a tour of the evolution of her career.
Nope, instead it's a random mish-mash of her songs and those of others, with the loosest of themes.Towards the middle she goes into a rambling story about doing the song "Feel the Light" from the movie "Home," though oddly, she doesn't even mention the name of the film, just that "you don't get paid to do the cartoons," which seems suspect and a bit crass given how much money the fans just spent to see her.
There are some highlights: the choreography is tight and original, and some of the sets are similar to what Katy Perry does. The stage has a nice elegance to it as well. She also interacts with some of the fans in the front pit sections, letting us all know "this is where the real fans are." Bish, please.
If you can't get into Celine, then consider J. Lo, but if you're not a huge fan, save your money and catch two other shows (I'd highly recommend "Absinthe" and "Mystere") instead.
