| - It goes without saying, most people op for the Starfucks across the street and don't realize they're passing up a gem. A sweet little gem run by a sweet woman whose been doing it long before the Starbucks arrived.
Kubata is low-key to say the least, frequented by the odd drop in customer, but mainly by a core group of regulars, who sit and chat all day long, write poetry and whittle wood sculptures. I've been coming here for years and I always see the same old folks (like the old man who likes to read his newspaper in the front window and watch all the young ladies walk by). Don't think I don't notice you.
I love Kubata because it's quiet, they play jazz (always), they've got good coffee, excellent empanadas (chicken & veggie), an assortment of pastries, basic all-day breakfast and yummy sandwiches. I highly recommend trying her mushroom, goat cheese and roasted red pepper sandwich. It comes with a side of salad. Also try her delicious homemade juices. My favorite: apple & lime.
Wifi is always wonky. So best to come here with a good book . If you don't have a book, you might just get a kick out of watching the regulars do their thang.
