I am always on the hunt for coffee shops that aren't large chains. It is not that I don't like the large chain coffee shops, it is that I like change. I can go into a Starbucks anywhere in the world and it looks pretty much the same as the one down the street from where I live. So if I am going to pay more for coffee than it costs to make it at home, I'd like a different environment.
The first thing I noticed about Cafe Darak is their amazing hours. They are open late. Which is great. I like coffee (or tea) after 8:00pm. I also like a place to hang out (sometimes) that is not a bar and is not filled with smoke. Bonus for Cafe Darak is that they have some really comfortable and unique furniture and decorations (that was the second thing I noticed).
Third (and finally) was the delicious coffee and tea. They have a great selection of tea and the coffee was quite smooth and dark. They also have some great treats, but I did not indulge (this time).
For me Cafe Darak is conveniently located, that plus the hours means this will be a good hangout spot when I want a more relaxed environment to read or talk with a friend.
