Each time I passed by Seven Lives Paleteria & Ceviche, I wasn't sure what paleteria and ceviche were. Paletas are fruit popsicles. Ceviche is raw fish salad marinated in lime juice. The raw fish is cooked by the acid of the lime juice without the use of heat. This review is based on several visits.
If you like eating Japanese sashimi and Hawaiian poké then you should try ceviche. The Ceviche comes with a choice of tilapia or wild steelhead trout. The Tostada De Ceviche Mixto is an upgraded dish that also comes with Morrocan octopus and shrimp. I prefer to order the Mixto Ceviche instead of the Poke 'N' Chips at Seven Lives Tacos for the same price as I think it is a better value. Some people may not like the very strong sour and acid taste of the lime juice in the ceviche. Break off a piece of the huge tortilla chip and put some seafood, chopped tomato and cucumber, onion and avocado on it for eating. I found the ceviche to be tasty.
The Shrimp Cocktail comes with avocado, chopped tomato and cucumber in clamato juice. The Shrimp Cocktail was OK, but I liked the Mixto Ceviche more.
For dessert, I had a soft serve float, ice cream float and paletas. I ordered a Dole pineapple soft serve float, which came with pineapple juice. I didn't find it too sweet. My ice cream float was mango ice cream with Fanta orange soda bottled in Mexico. Both of these were pretty good. The hibiscus paleta and lime paleta lacked strong enough flavour.
If I want to eat at Seven Lives Tacos and the line up is too long then Seven Lives Paleteria & Ceviche will be my alternate choice.
