I've not been to The Barr House since it used to be Ski's Saloon. At first glance, there's not much that seems to have changed. But, if you look around and pay attention, you can see where some of the less subtle differences exist.
What's done right? They offer Glencairn glasses for whiskey pours. They have a mix of Irish, Scotch, Bourbon and Rye. The prices are very fair. The bartenders are super friendly.
What could be improved? The selection of whiskey is a bit on the thin side. I realize Ski's had different owners, but they had a more extensive selection than The Barr House. That's not the end of the world, they cater to their clientele, and after a year should know what they want.
My verdict? I'd come back. There's not much to dislike and I can overlook a smaller whiskey selection, as this is a neighborhood bar, not a whiskey bar.
Cheers!
