| - We first came to Cornerstone when we visited Arizona a few years ago. I did an internet search and contacted one of the pastors. I wanted a Bible based church but one that was contemporary in service. I asked if this was a traditional service or contemporary and learned it was the latter. We attended and yes, it is a large church. However, we were made to feel welcome. The music was like attending a rock concert - but with Christian music. The sermon was outstanding. We came back every time we were in the Chandler area.
Eventually, my wife and I became members after attending the church for months after moving to Chandler, AZ. Although it is a large church, you are encouraged to join small groups and to grow spiritually. I belong to a men's group that meets weekly for Bible study and support.
Last year my wife became quite sick. The prayer, spiritual, and other support we got from members was simply incredible. The men's group was instrumental in giving me the necessary support during this difficult time. This is a VERY caring church.
In addition to many small groups or churches as they are called, there is a fantastic Bible study called "The Mine." Attending The Mine has been a wonderful experience. There are numerous conferences, meetings, etc., available to members to help their spiritual growth.
Folks who say this church is only interested in raising money are off target. First, as a Chrisitan, I have a Biblical obligation to support my church. However, there is no pressure on members or attendees to make contributions and, in fact, more than 25% of the folks who attend do no make any contributions.
Well, it's been two years since we started attending and joining this church and I look forward to every Sunday. In brief, if you are looking for a fire and brimstone church preaching damnation, then this church is not for you. However, if you are looking for a Bible-based church that teaches that Jesus loves you and died for your salvation, that is encouraging, welcoming, and enthusiastic then this could be the place for you.
