| - I am still in awe over The Porch! I really had no idea what to expect going in to this event, but it was so cool! Mike (GM) and Kevin (Exec. Chef) along with the rest of the staff were incredibly patient and welcoming! I wish I had the names of all of the help to thank them for a great afternoon, but they were appreciated!
Kevin took us on a tour of the GARDEN they have growing IN THE BACK OF THE RESTAURANT! How freakin' cool! I love knowing that the food I'm eating is being sourced locally, and what's more local then 10 feet away!? Kevin has so much patience, passion, and experience with his garden, which makes the food that much more personable. From blueberries, to tomatoes, to ginger, to fig - they have it all growing (and thriving!) right on location for customers!
We tried a bunch of different plates and I personally enjoyed every single one! There were honey BBQ wings which were sweet yet savory (I'd totally order these next time I go to The Porch). Crab cakes which came and went REAL quick! There was also zucchini flatbread, crostinis, prime rib sliders, and don't even get me started with that cheese plate! I could've eaten the entire thing! The watermelon mojitos were pretty good - not my typical drink of choice but it was a nice refreshing beverage to get the event started! I continued the event with some wine, which wasn't cold like I'd prefer it to be, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
I really really enjoyed this event. It was nice to explore a restaurant outside of the city, because personally sometimes I don't prefer to drive into the city to enjoy a good meal, so it's nice to know there's a nice spot 5 minutes away with staff that is just waiting to serve you!
