  • today, my best friend and I were walking along the strip mall and both had to use the washroom. we walked into the store and were greeted by the worker at the front who seemed less than excited to see us. I politely asked if they had a washroom and if I could use it. she agreed and led me to a small room. she opened it and left me and my friend to find a crammed room, filled to the roof with dog and cat food, litter and other animal products. being nervous to use this (in terrible health condition) bathroom, my friend offered to come in the tiny room with me. we both quickly used the bathroom, washed our hands and got out of there as quickly as we could. as we walked back to the front of the store, I decided to buy my dog a treat, mostly so that we weren't just using this lady's business as a public bathroom. I say thank you to her for letting us use the washroom and the answer I received back was something I've never experienced- "um, your welcome. if you don't mind me asking, why did you two go into the bathroom together?" my friend and I, in complete shock, reply "well she had to use the bathroom too and we figured it would be quicker that way" no reply from the lady. I quickly add that I didn't take anything and that she can check my bags if she'd like. she then answers, "it's okay, I just think it was a bit weird." there are many things wrong with this answer but the biggest is that she implied that we are weird. if she hadn't noticed, as I was pulling out my wallet, I was a about-to-be paying customer and if you know how to run a business then you know that customer is king. how and what my friend and I choose to do in the bathroom is absolutely none of her business. I was appalled and quickly made my way out of the store, without purchasing a single thing. quite frankly, I was very insulted from the lady's condescending tone of voice and her nosiness. I understand if she thought we stole and wanted to check but if that's so, she could've easily asked, "hey, sorry but can I check your bags quickly?" and I would've had no problem. as this was my first time here, I had a very negative experience and will never be giving my business to them again. as for my friend, who'd been there a couple times, she's decided to never return as well. all in all, the lady was rude and nosy and I've never been treated so rudely. if I wanted to be called weird, I could've done something much weirder.
