| - Basis for my starred ratings (which skews heavily to the food or drink):
1 star: Never again.
2 stars: Poor food, poor experience, extraordinary measures in order for me to come back.
3 stars: Average, nothing really special, nothing particularly bad.
4 stars: Very good, would definitely return.
5 stars: A favorite, one of the best.
Came here with my wife to get a free pizza and we were both pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, as was the alcohol selection.
Started with an order of the roasted veggie board. It was huge, and it was very good. A little short on the romesco that comes with it, but small complaint when the veggies were kept large and roasted perfectly. Also ordered the Caesar. A good Caesar, and their dressing is more garlicky (as advertised) which we appreciated.
Finally, ordered the Big Star pizza. Schreiner's sausage, pepperoni, bell pepper, mushrooms, olives, and onions. It is a very good pizza. Crust had some flavor, though not all blistered with dark bits. But it has good crunch with an interior chew. The toppings all tasted great, but all put together, tasted a little muddled? Apart from being just a tad over-greasy (I get it, it's a pizza), the balance was a little lost compared to the truly great pizzas we've had.
Still, a very good pizza and a welcome addition to the nationally underrated Valley pizza scene. Come for the pizza, stay for the booze and veggie board. Too many other 5-star pizza joints out there in the States, can't give these guys 5 stars.
