| - Terrible gym. The only reason I go here is because of the convenient location. It does have some positive aspects, like the variety of machines, sauna, etc. But the front desk is RUDE and incompetent. My first day, I printed out a free three-day trial. After getting attitude from the girl at the front desk about using the pass, she made me talk to a sales rep, who then took my ID until I finished my work out. This forces you to sit down with them when you're leaving. I figured it's typical sales protocol and she's just doing her job, so I signed up for a pretty decent payment of $29.95/month.
Then, two days later, I lost my car keys at my job (as if this isn't stressful enough), and I went to work out later that evening. When I arrived and asked for a new LA Fitness ID card to swipe, I was scolded by some 18-year old kid about how I needed to find it. He then charged me for a new one ($5.00) and when I handed him a $20 bill, he rolled his eyes and said he doesn't have change, so I needed to swipe a card. I said no and he finally was so frustrated with the growing line of arrivals that he gave it to me for free.
Every interaction I've had with staff has been negative. They sit at the front and gossip instead of making sure gym is clean and kept-up. While they are sitting around talking, there is grime and sand (SAND!!) in the women's locker room floor that sticks to your feet as you walk. There is no soap in several of the women's bathroom sinks, foul smells, and yesterday there was a large clump of women's hair sitting on the bathroom sink.
