  • Happy Grand Opening Distrikt Pitt!!! I will say this was my first time ever staying at a brand new hotel which I was really looking forward to. They recently opened on August 3rd we were told upon check-in. Check-in was very smooth the agent at the counter even offered us 2 complimentary drinks (which i was still charged for) at the upstairs bar Evangeline. The hotel lobby is beautiful upon entry they have a rack of cruiser bikes for use complimentary during your stay to explore Downtown Pittsburgh. The Evangeline bar is located directly upstairs in an open setting for lounging, drinks and small bites I would think that once this hotel gets heavy traffic it might interfere with the noise level during check-in but I can also can be wrong LOL. On to the room.. The staff was very polite and attentive to my needs as I sat there solo. We stayed on the 7th floor as we were told that only 4 floors were actually open at the time. The room was clean and yet smaller than i hoped as i went back to switch from the Cozy to the Comfy room; looking back i wish we would have gotten the Roomy Room for more space but the comfy was enough for 2 just not enough leg room for me. Unfortunately, we had an issue with someone on staff entering our room unannounced literally 10-15 minutes after we checked in and it kind of made things very awkward for the rest of our stay. I do thank the GM for accommodating us as I felt very uncomfortable after the fact. But back to the good stuff this hotel is historic to Pitt as it is the old Salvation Army building which use to house women decades ago. I thought that was cool that kept the exterior as is with modern updates to the interior. The terrace on 10th floor provides amazing views of the Mono river and great for tons of selfies you can even take your cocktails up there for a wind down. I try to stay at boutique hotels when traveling and like to compare amenities. The bathroom and shower was very clean and spacious for the room size. I appreciated the full length mirror in the room as well as every room had a refrigerator and lots of storage. The robes were pretty standard to me but i had to request them i thought they actually came in the room. There is another restaurant Moby Dick themed being constructed downstairs which should be opening soon i assume. On day 2 of our stay we wanted to go get breakfast didn't really know much about Pitt (first time visitors) but Keith and Brooke (awesome personalities btw) were helpful in directing us to Pamela's for breakfast! Perfect location to stay if you want to do the tourist thing downtown. Market Square was walking distance. Uber drive to the Strip was about 10 mins due to construction but overall this location was perfect. Beware as it is a new hotel that none of the Uber drivers knew where the hell we were for pickup LOL. I will definitely visit again when in town mainly because we were given a discount on a future stay but also due to service.
