| - Anyone rating The Ashton above a two has not lived in the building in the last six months. I have lived at the Ashton for two years and can say it once was a great place to live up until the last six months. Sadly, the management company changed as well as the management of the building and with it the maintenance of the property has deteriorated. What once was considered a premier place to live in SouthEnd is now a location where the fitness equipment, elevators, garage gates, theater and the grounds are all unkept, unserviced and work only half of the time. The condition of the building is on a continuous downward trend while the rental rates continue to increase for those longterm and residents that have called the Ashton home and new residents moving into the building.
I am leaving the Ashton after two years, one increase in my rent and now a second increase that would have been over a ten percent rate increase. The management has no regard for maintaining the residents that have lived and been supportive of the community even as the property conditions declined. I would strongly recommend before committing to a lease at the Ashton to shop the amenities and rates of the other properties in the area, there are significantly better rental rates, updated communities and definitely management that cares about maintaining longterm residents and not simply improving their numbers.
In closing, my final recommendation is to NOT lease sight unseen. The pictures on the Web sites are outdated and not reflective of the current conditions of the building, the lobby, the fitness center or the pool area where the fire pit has not worked in over a year.
I only hope my update to my review from two years ago has saved someone the disappointment I have experienced during my last few months as a resident of the Ashton.
