| - The Farmers Market is a mixed bag. There are some great vendors there (e.g., the lady who sells cheese and veggies, the man who sells apples, and the lady who sells grass fed beef and eggs). But I had a very bad experience with ANOTHER vendor recently, and the management of the farmers market has been useless. A month or so ago I bought some beets from a vendor and I thought that the price he charged me was a bit high. I did not say anything at the time, but the issue remain unresolved in my mind. About two or three weeks later, I went back and bought some more beets from that vendor. I casually mentioned that I thought I had been overcharged the last time I visited. The vendor apologized profusely, but told me that he only deals in whole dollars...giving change is messy and time-consuming, according to him...and that he either downcharges or UPCHARGES, depending on the cost of the sale. I was stunned. I could not believe that he would actually upcharge for a sale. But that is what he told me. Rest assured, I will not be buying produce from him again.
I sent an email to the farmers market describing the incident, but never received a response. Last week I visited the market and told the manager on duty (he told me that he was the administrative assistant to the actual manager) about it. He also apologized to me and told me that that was not the usual protocol (upcharging) of the vendors, and that he would be providing this feedback to the manager and that she would contact me.
A week has gone by and I still have not heard back from the manager. I am very disappointed.
