  • I had express flooring come out today to give a quote on three bedrooms of carpet, which I almost regretted immediately. First, I set my appointment online, designated a day and time, gave the requested information, and yet still had to call in after receiving an email stating they didn't have enough information. Really? What's the point of having an online service if you then have to call in and give the same information? Second, I made clear that the house was vacant and requested a 15 minute call ahead so I could ensure I would be at the house. I get a call that the salesman was at the house and had left due to no one being home.. where was my call ahead I was assured over and over I would receive? Next, the salesman shows back up to the house and I had apologized for the mix up as I was supposed to receive a call ahead, followed by a snarky response made by said salesman. As we went through the rooms, he showed samples, took measurements, and gave us an estimate based on our selection. When I told the salesman I would need to discuss it further with my wife, the HIGH PRESSURE SALES TACTICS kicked in! Here are a just a few ways he tried to make the sale; 1. You know, I did drive down from North Scottsdale and it took me about an hour. I really don't want to have to drive back with a contract for signatures and payments. 2. Is there an issue with price? Tell me where you want to be so I don't have to walk out to my car 12 times for samples. ( At this point, he walked to his car once for a ring of samples.) 3. This is great carpet! I'm not sure how much we have in stock, but I'm sure I can do it for lower. This is left over overstock carpet from a big job we did, so we can discount it? (Is all their carpet just left over scraps from "bigger" jobs?) 4. We have some of the most favorable yelp reviews, which should prove just how good we are. ( Is there a secondary yelp that I am unaware of?) I could continue, but it only becomes redundant as we did this back and forth dance for quite a while. My response consistently was I would like to discuss it with my wife, followed immediately by another pitch on why I should sign a purchase contract. The original price quoted was roughly $4900, which after a 30 second phone call, turned magically into $3400. As a consumer, how is that supposed to make me feel knowing that their mark up is so high, that they can instantly drop the price $1500? I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews prior to making the appointment, which would have save me the time in writing this review. The bashing of other companies, boasting about how great they are, rude and snarky comments, and the high pressure sales made for a very uncomfortable and disappointing experience.
