| - I recently purchased a used Mazda 6 from Town and Country Toyota. I have to honestly say the overall initial purchasing process went wonderfully, but the follow-up service that I received was disappointing. I have always been skeptical of the "no haggle" sales process that many dealerships are turning to nowadays. However, I was able to find the car I needed and was given a fair purchase price that was below KBB value. This helped take away the feeling of the sleazy car salesman trying to get you for every dime that they could, but instead it made the process pleasant and quick. If everything else had been fine at this point, then I'd have to give a 5 star rating. However, I've had several issues that occurred shortly after. First, when I purchased the car it was missing the gear shift knob. Obviously not a big deal and they said they'd replace it. Well I finally got it over four weeks later and several phone calls that had to be made on my part. I was told it was probably removed at the auction lot and that they'd be in contact with me shortly. After two weeks and driving around having to shift with a sharp metal bar, I decided to give them a call to find out what was going on. They couldn't seem to determine whose responsibility this was and I had to be bounced around to several different people. Apparently they never even called to find out what was going on, so they said they'd call back within a day. After waiting another week and hearing nothing, I call back and once again am told they were still looking into it. I finally received a call back the next day and they stated that the part couldn't be located and they'd order me another one. I then received a call a week later to come in and pick it up. I drove 20 minutes to the dealer and was told they couldn't locate the knob because the guy who ordered it was off. So I had to then come back a second time later on to finally get knob that I could of just purchased myself at Walmart for $10. The second issue I had related to the tire pressure. The day I purchased the car the check pressure light was on. I asked the dealer to check it, but was informed that they just adjusted the pressure and the light was probably on because of the hot weather. The light never went out and I took it to Discount Tire to have the pressure checked. They informed me that the tires were dangerously over inflated and I was lucky I didn't have a blowout on the highway. This was a real comfort to me knowing that I had been driving around like this with my 3 year old daughter in the car. The third problem that I had was I only received one car key when I purchased it. The window sticker clearly stated that two keys were included with the car. When I asked the dealer about another key they stated that they only had one and the sticker must of had a typo. So I inquired about getting the additional key and was happily informed that I was in luck, because the locksmith was in that day and I could get one from him for a very good price. Unbelievable, I just purchased a $13,000 car from them and they wouldn't even comp me a secondary key that was advertised as being included in the first place. The last problem that I had is technically "not their problem" as I was told. Only a few days after purchasing the car, the check engine light suddenly came on. I checked the code and it indicated that the fuel system was too lean. When I inquired about it I was told the there was no warranty on the used car and it would not be covered. Now technically they are correct in this instance. But obviously the issue already existed when I purchased the car and it would have only been fair for them to address it since it'd only been a few days. So now I have to go pay additional money at another location to have the problem fixed. Overall, the initial purchase was a pleasure, but the terrible customer service that followed left more to be desired. I can't say anything that they did after they received their payment for the car would lead me to ever purchase a car here again or bring it to them for service. This dealership could be a great place if they could give the same great customer service both before and after purchasing a car from them. Based on my experience, I can only assume the reason they were able to offer me such a great price was because the supplemental service that I received afterwards was virtually nonexistent.
