rev:text	We hired Shasta to do our pool remodel with the lifetime warranty of their new product at the time: shasta glass finish. We had them put in all new pool equipment, tile, and shasta glass. The original tiles fell off within a few weeks and although they were under warranty we decided to change out the tile and pay for the tile over $1,200; since the existing structure behind the pool had a large crack which was causing the tiles to fall off. The tile men decided to put something like liquid nails in the crack and also did not use normal thin set; they used some type of silicone so the tiles had the ability to move without falling off. The plan worked, however the silicone or caulking was directly behind a portion of grout; and the grout started to fall off. We have tiled our home and kitchen and fountain in the past and are fully aware of what grout can do. We were told by Ron Paap who was in charge at the time that in order for the glass to be warrntied for life, we must hire Shasta to do our pool tiles anytime we wanted them changed or any other service that would affect the glass. We noticed some cracks and splits near the bottom of the pool recently so we called Shasta in June of 2013 to expect the warranty to be honored. The original receptionist who answered the phone sounded professional and polite. We were transferred to Stacy on the phone and she proceeded to interrogate us if we were the original owners and that many people lie about it so the warranty wouldn't be in effect. We found the original papers and showed them to the Shasta representative when they arrived to check out our pool. We had a conversation about when the glass could be done; and the representative stated that Shasta doesn't do any repairs until November due to the heat in Arizona. We inquired about doing some extra remodeling in which was answered to us if we wanted to do anything new the warranty would no longer be valid. Now that it was November we decided not to do anything additional as far as remodeling but needed new tiles and were ready to get the glass repaired. Stacy informed us over the telephone that the previous representative made it very clear that our pool had been chemically damaged and she added that Shasta 'can't' do our tiles or pool unless we pay 10,000 dollars. She stated that the representative told her that we ran him off our property and he remembers us very well and took photos to prove of the chemical damage. She contiued that the fact the tile grout is gone is proof of chemical damage. We informed her the reason why the grout fell off was due to the silicone backing; since grout does not stick to silicone; furthermore only part of the tiles were sealed with grout. One can actually see on some the white silicone showing between the tiles. We were never informed of anything chemical damage either with a followup phone call or by the original rep, and we have kept our pool in good condition over the years going regularly to the shasta store to keep it balance. The treatment received was hostile and unprofessional. We are currently waiting for more information to proceed with a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. In our opinion this is exactly what the former comment stated; they are trying to change the rules to not cover the liftetime warranty.
