I'll start this by saying I did know when I booked this hotel that they clearly had the reservation mark as "no cancellations, no refunds".
I picked this hotel because I was attending the F1 race which I usually do with my grandson but at the last minute he couldn't go so I picked a nice, expensive hotel downtown as my wife was going to go with me instead.
Unfortunately the day before we were to leave my wife had a "spell" at the ophthalmologist which was tentatively diagnosed as a TIA or seizure. We spent 12 hours in the ER and ruled out all but the TIA which you can't and only had to be prepared for a potential stroke within the next 72 hours.
The manager at the hotel was rude to me and ultimately to the Expedia representative. I provided copies of all the ER stuff as well as the doctor's recommendations that we stay close to home in case a stroke occurred.
After two months and many emails the hotel denied our request for a refund of the prepaid funds.
I have never had anything like this happen when appropriate proof of medical issues were documented.
Not very nice people. I'll never use their hotel again.
