| - The jiggly raindrop desert finally hit Vegas!
Since this was the main reason we came to Loftti, it was already a given that we were going to order that. However, with much help from the 2 nice girls behind the counter, we were able to choose our two boba drinks: Royal Thai milk tea and a Jasmine Green latti with boba. After ordering, we went to sit in the comfortable sofas to wait for our food.
The drinks were brought out first. A latti just seemed like a regular boba drink, but we were pleased with the quality. However, someone in the group pointed out the tapioca balls were a bit chewer than usual.
Next, the spotlight desert! For all who don't know what raindrop desert ($3.50) is, it's a jiggly blob made out of mineral water and agar (the thing that gives it a Jell-O-like consistency). Since the cake itself has almost no taste, it's served alongside roasted soybean flour (kinako) and a sugary syrup called kuromitsu. When it was brought out to us, the girls instructed us to mix the flour and syrup together before eating. Thankfully they told us, because separately they were disgusting. After mixing the two to create a paste with the wooden spoons accompanying the desert, we dug in!
Don't expect any flavor from the cake itself. All the nutty, sweet flavor you will get is from the paste you create. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised! The flavor wasn't too overpowering. Since it was about the size of the palm of my hand, you really pay for the amount you get.
Would I drive all the way across town for sone Loftti? Not necessary. But would I come and stop by if I'm close by for some desert and boba? Why not!
