  • I was working in the far south today out of the Wingate Hotel. The company that I work for rented meeting room space out of that location, and the Darby Arms Transitional house is located right across the parking lot. so, we grabbed lunch there, just due to the proximity of where we were working. A few observations on the business iteself. When I walked in, the first obvious thing is that it is huge! Its a big space that very few people are taking advantage of during business hours. My colleague Kim and I were the only two people in there for the first half hour of lunch. by teh time we left, only one other table joined us. Therefore, if you are working in this area and you are looking to get "in and out", we certainly were not fighting the crowds. This must be an unknown gem during business hours. Looking around, there are VLTs, big buck hunter and the decor is fairly modern. The only thing that didn't sit well with me, is that the wooden chairs are kind of "rickity". I swapped out one, because I was afraid it was going to bust under my backside. The one I swapped it out for, was only marginally better. I brought it to the attention of the waitress, and she did appear concerned and thanked me for letting her know. She also mentioned that she had informed her manager before, so hopefully some of the chairs will be upgraded. I hope so. :) For lunch, I had the special, which was a buffalo chicken wrap and salad with thousand island sauce. The salad had REALLY cool tomatoes on it! They were black cherry tomatoes! They are burgundy in color (even though they are "called" black) and they have green stripes through them. When I saw them I was skeptical, but they are firm, fresh and delicious. The only unfortunate thing, is that the chicken was deep fried. Its my fault - I didn't think to ask whether there was an option to get it grilled. I gobbled it up anyway and it was cripsy and very good. My experience here was good. I only deducted a star for the rickity chairs. Other than that, the food, service and ambiance was good by me! 23/30
