  • Do not recommend whatsoever. I would recommend anybody thinking about doing business with them to get a second opinion from another company. We had a so called "maintenance plan" with Parker & Sons. You pay a few hundred bucks a year for them to come out, do an inspection (note, cleaning of the line, an electrical component, condensate flush, all extra charges if you want it done) and provide you a large bill of "recommended" repairs. Last year, I was home and the only problem was the need for a new run capacitor on one of the two outside units. I didn't realize at the time, but they charged me 300 bucks to install a 25 dollar part. My one unit wasn't turning on at the time so I just paid it to get the house cool. This year, I had to work when they (Clemence was the name of the tech) came out, but my wife was home. They ended up writing a $2,700 invoice, luckily my wife declined all work till I was able to review it. They had 3 capacitors (300 ea), including one that they replaced the previous year, replacing of the traps in the condensate drains because they were "clogged" (200 ea), the contactors were bad and needed to be replaced (350 ea), and we needed leak tests because both units were leaking freon, to the tune of almost 500 per test per unit. The previous year when I was around there was no mention of clogged lines or leaking freon, so those issues apparently cropped up within the last 10 months. I decided to get a second opinion from another company. I was present today and shadowed the tech. He took the time and showed me how all capacitors were in good condition, values smack dab in the middle of what's considered in spec, the contactors were in great shape and didn't need to be replace, the condensate lines weren't clogged and draining as they should, and one unit was perfect on freon, while another was slightly below the normal operating range. He topped up the freon in the one system as the only action taken on both systems. Total out the door was $95 and the second opinion company informed us the other repairs were absolutely unnecessary. That's a far cry from the $2700 that Parker and Sons handed my wife an invoice for. I'm not saying they were attempting to take advantage of my wife, but it sure does feel like it.
