  • This is my new favorite place for all my tea needs, the calm ambiance, 130 different roasts of tea, the decor and the location. All too much for me to not fall truly, madly and deeply in love with this spot. Located just a stones throw from my home (a long throw..ha ha) but nonetheless conveniently located right at Yonge and Wellington in Aurora, you'd be remiss to not stop in for a coffee, Tea or Tea latte any day of the week. Coming up its 2nd year anniversary this is the little shop that could and WILL make it in the hoighty-toighty Aurora downtown area. I had a great chance to speak with Yanding, the owner, when I was in and this man knows his tea. Not being familiar with his selection I asked for a recommendation and like a true professional asked me a series of taste preference questions to narrow down my selection (Coffee, Tea or Tea Latte? - Tea, Black or Green? Green, do you want something plain or something with a special flavour? Special). Recommended Tea was a cherry infused green tea roast - what a truly magical experience this was. I took my seat and was swiftly brought a french press with my tea of choice brewing. The tea set provided was beautiful and ornate and something I had never seen before was that my tea tray came with a mini hour glass timer so I knew when my tea was ready to drink. Genius! It came out perfect and the aroma and flavour delighted my senses. Insider trading tips: Bonsai receives their 130 roasts of tea direct from India, China and other tea-leading countries regularly. In addition they have special selection of Organic Fair Trade Coffee from countries like Jamaica!! Protip #1: During the day the music is soft and melodic, and the wifi is free!! Guess where I'm working from for now on :) Protip #2: Yanding informed me that he does occasional tea tastings a few times a year. The events are 2.5 hours in length, are extremely affordable and include many varieties of tea, snacks, and tea reflection/discussion. Sounds amazing!! Make sure you call the shop to find out when the next one will be - (a little bird tells me Sept 8th) Check this spot out :)))
