Never had a problem with the company. When I called to cancel false alarms I always got an agent with no hold time. They were also quick to call if the alarm tripped.
My first home they monitored for 2 years. when I moved I was able to transfer my account and get a new alarm installed at the new home with no cost to me. I had the alarm installed on a month to month for over 9 years (no contract).
This month (March 2016) I called to cancel. No phone option to cancel so closest option is moving. So I call that extension and mention to CSR I am moving and need to close my account. For about 10-15 mins guy starts advertising why monitronics is the best and why an alarm is important. I kept trying to interrupt and he kept saying I will just credit your account until you get another home then we can transfer the service to your new house. I said not please just cancel my account. he said no, due to fraud you have to send a letter via mail to cancel your account. I asked if I could fax or e-mail. he said no.
So I sent a letter signed with the information and asked they email cancellation confirmation.
I called today and was told by CSR something was wrong with the letter. was put on hold for about 10 mins. CSR said letter was not signed so they cannot close account. I said I signed letter with blue ink, BS. So she said I would transfer you to cancellation department but I don't think they are there anymore. CSR put me on hold...about 10 minutes later a new CSR gets on the phone. I have to reexplain to this person. he said oh we got the letter and closed the account. in 30 days we will send you a letter confirming we cancelled the account. I said where are you sending said letter as I have no forwarding address. he said to mailing address on account. I said I just told you I sold my home and that is the mailing address on account. please email me the letter. he said I will put a notation and what is your email. the whole time in the background I hear a lot of yelling etc. Very unprofessional.
