I LOVE Cartel and for awhile now I've been so excited to have a far above average coffee option while traveling into/out of/through Phoenix.
This would honestly be a 5-star review purely for the coffee alone, but a few times here I've witnessed folks who don't really "get" the upscale coffee scene be blown off or slightly mocked by the employees of this location. It might've been just isolated occasions, but it was still noticed. I think that it's so important to make a customer feel comfortable and welcome in ANY new experience--things like explaining what cold brew is if someone asks or appears confused (rather than "try it, you'll like it" or some such answer), explaining where to pick up coffee after it's ordered when someone appears confused, or even simply calling out customer or drink names after making the coffee, instead of plopping it down and assuming everyone knows what it is/who it is for.
Anyway, fantastic coffee here, but since it's an airport location I would hope employees become a bit more welcoming and know that their customers will be VERY diverse and not used to a "craft" coffee experience, unlike a typical coffeeshop scene.
