On a given weekend night, if you walk through the Bloor/Bathhurst intersection on your way through the Annex, you will likely be handed a Wreck Room flier by a cute, goth or punk styled young person. "No cover with flier" or some such promise is usually imparted, and I've been handed enough of these that I begin to wonder if it's prudent to ever pay cover at the Wreck Room.
The Wreck Room is another incarnation of what has, I'm told, been a long string of clubs that have occupied the space above Pizza Pizza on the Northwest corner of the intersection. In their first year or so of existence, they seemed to have worked out a schedule that works for them, and this stride seems to be wisely aimed at the young fresh faced coeds from U of T. Dance nights, drink specials on beer buckets and a whole lot of alternative rock playing means that these guys will never go out of style.
One shining beacon on the Wreck Room's lineup is the InBetween Days 80s dance night. This reasonably priced ($5 cover) dance night features guest DJs from Degrassi High - Spike and Caitlin. Definitely worth checking out once.
