I was seen 3 days ago for extreme stomach pain and was given a diagnosis. I was given instructions not to eat berries and take naproxen. Today I found out that there are entire books written on this strict diet, and that antibiotics are usually always the first line of treatment. I tried to call the hospital to follow up and talked to at least 3 ER staff members, all of which told me there was no way I could leave my number/message for the doctor I saw or talk to the doctor on staff and my only option was to make another appointment. Every one of those doctors hung up on me when they found out I had no more money for them. None of the staff was AT ALL sympathetic to the fact that I'm having more symptoms and that I have missed work 3 times because of this. I am now having to file a formal complaint through my insurance company because the doctors refuse to talk to me. I have never been treated so badly by a doctor, much less a hospital staff in my life. Terrible experience. When my girlfriend was in there I was truly astounded by the lack of compitency of a specific doctor they had sent in. If you want to receive care by physicians that actually care about your well being DO NOT GO TO ST LUKES.
Note: I am sorry about the length and I know there are a handful of genuine doctors there, just not enough for comfort.
