A friend and I were on a walking adventure downtown today and happened to Nadege. We were so freaking excited that we had happened upon what was rumoured to be one of the best macaron places in Toronto. Here are the points we wanted to make:
- Yes, the macarons are good
- Yes salted caramel is AMAZING and rose is a pleasant surprise
- No, the macarons are not magical
We had experimented with making macarons before but we have always thought we were doing something wrong and somehow our macarons weren't real macarons. However, we have been able to achieve identical results and if I'm going to pay seven dollars for three macarons that could buy me instead two dozen worth of ingredients...I would rather pay for the latter. I'm not saying that I'm an amazing baker and if I'm so good why don't I just sell my own. All I'm saying is I expect a little more if I'm going to pay $2.15 for a macaron that were made by the pros.
So the conclusion is YES go try these out but if you can try to make them definitely try your hand at it. Is it worth the money? Meh.
