  • This hotel is good as long as you know what you are getting yourself into. If you are looking for a luxury hotel in the heart of the strip, this is not for you. Also, THERE IS NO MORE SHUTTLE TO THE STRIP. If any reviews mention a strip shuttle, they are outdated. As of November 2017 there is no shuttle, which is a shame. If you are renting a car or staying here for a convention, the Rio can be a great value, especially as a Total Rewards property. Parking is still free, including valet, which is actually pretty prompt. The rooms are pretty spacious, too. I've stayed in rooms in both towers, and obviously the Masquerade tower is nice if you can get it, but the Ipanema tower isn't terrible either. If you can get a strip view - go for it. The Ipanema towers actually have some pretty nice strip views if you get a room near the end and don't mind a little walk (see my photos). Every room has a fridge and coffee maker, which isn't always a guarantee on the Strip. Every room has floor to ceiling windows which really give the room a lot of space. The amenities are decent enough. None of the food options really blow me away and of course you are at the mercy of "almost-strip" prices. However, since there is a fridge I recommend buying some snacks and storing them in there so you have some flexibility. Their spa is small but adequate depending on your needs. Can't speak about their pool since I've only been in the winter. The layout of the hotel is a little odd as they have some shops down one hallway and some down another. If you're ambitious enough, this can be within walking distance of the Strip. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it unless you're a seasoned walker or like a challenge. It's a short and easy uber ride away too, but even those costs can add up. The location is GREAT for anything outside of the strip but still in Vegas. Very easy to get on the highway if needed without having to deal with the chaos of Las Vegas Blvd. Another thing I love is going to the Voodoo Lounge. On some nights it's free before 10PM and it's a great view. Really early in the morning you can come up here too for free, although the lounge isn't open. Still a great view. And then don't forget the Voodoo Zipline which is worth doing at least once if you're a wimp like me. You might even be able to see people ziplining from your room!
