  • AVOID FOR RETINA DISPLAYS. Also their service is alternately nice and arrogant/angry, depending on who you talk to and what they're doing. I went here to have my iPhone 6 screen replaced. It was quoted at $120 and an hour, which was better than the $130 and "maybe they can do it in-store, or maybe they have to take your phone for a few days" that the main Apple Support people quoted me. So I went to CPR (which was also closer to my work). BIG MISTAKE. Before doing the work, they had me agree to an non-refundable $39 "bench fee" and had me sign a form essentially saying that no matter what condition they gave my phone back in, no matter whether it was their fault or not, they couldn't be held accountable for it. The guy tried to tell me that it wouldn't really apply in my case, but I'm sure he was just lying. I went ahead and had them do the work, anyway - I figured it would be fine. I got the phone back and hour later and it looked fine. I noted that the screen stuck out a bit more from the case than it used to, but it wasn't visibly different; I could just tell by feel. So I took it and left. Over the next day or two, I realized that I was seeing pixel lines in the display - it wasn't truly a retina display! I googled around and learned that no third-party can get true OEM (Apple) displays, and that there's a huge range of quality in third-party displays. Apparently CPR uses a display that's "good enough" that they probably get away with it for most customers. I called them, angry, and they did agree to put a broken OEM screen back on it, and refund me all but the $39 fee. They wouldn't budge on the fee. They admitted that they used third-party displays, and there's nothing in any of their marketing or paperwork that says anything about that. They put a different broken screen back on (in about 20 minutes). I took it to Apple, who replaced it in an hour, with a perfectly-fitting, truly-retina display. I should have gone to Apple first. While I was waiting for my phone, another woman came in with a broken screen that wouldn't turn on. The guy argued with her for a bit about her options, somewhat impatiently/impolitely, and eventually she left. I was glad she did so - it seemed like he was just trying to talk her into buying one of their used phones, rather than truly help her find the best solution. Then he complained to me and another guy who was waiting about her attitude, and went back into the back. It was very poor behavior on his part. I would have given them a 2-star review except for that last bit - at least they were prompt, the work seemed correctly-done, and they did give me an option for getting a partial refund. But I basically paid $40 and two hours to bring all the rest of you this review, so the rudeness on top of the rest brings it down to 1 star.
