  • Very expensive compared to Ackerman and ADT. $47 a month + tax for basic service (ie, basic in-home key pad; no key fob, no camera, etc). We went with Guardian because they partnered with our builder and were able to install lines inconspicuously within the walls and the door/window frame. We received one motion detector, three door monitors and three window monitors at the time of install. Received notification that my system would need to be upgraded from 2G, with the letter stating that I am eligible to receive the upgrade at "low-cost or no-cost." When I look at ADT's site, it states there is no charge for a 2G upgrade (https://www.adt.com/help/faq/equipment/2g). Based on a letter posted at this site, Ackerman was charging $99 to upgrade (http://merchantstand.com/2016/08/the-ackerman-security-wireless-communicator-upgrade-letter/). Based on social media feedback within my neighborhood, there were some neighbors who received letters regarding the need for a 2G upgrade, contacted Guardian and the neighbors felt they were duped in to signing up for a new contract. I have seen ADT, Ackerman, and Vivint signs take the place of Guardian signs in our neighborhood. I am cancelling my service and will look for a service that is cheaper and possibly includes more features. Was not happy with my call to them earlier today regarding my account. Happy to be discontinuing service and can't recommend them based on their pricing v. competitors and my experience with their customer service team.
