  • This was an interesting experience.... I came here with my mom and sister for my birthday, and MAN was it hard to schedule a reservation. I could not get ahold of them by phone, email or social media for 3 days even though I was scheduling a month out. Finally got the reservation made and I specifically asked on the phone if I should send the nail art I wanted to make sure my artist could do it. I had found it through HMP's instagram and the girl on the phone said that their girls are all very talented and that if its on their instagram it isn't a problem. Well I arrive, and it was a problem. My girl looked at the photo, said the design was done by a different artist (who was on vacation) and that she couldn't do it. I was a little taken aback because I had done a lot of research to figure out what I wanted, and was really set on the design. I told her about my experience on the phone and she replied that she could try it but it probably wouldn't look very good. I then asked if I could see what she could actually do and she kept saying she would Hi do my original design but that she may not be able to do it properly. We argued for about 5 minutes and she finally said she would try it and if I didn't like it we could do something else. The actual spa manicure experience was not great--i hate the shape she made my nails (I asked for squoval, which is what I always get, and I got a weird hexagon shape, that isn't growing out very nicely). There was no real luxurious experience here, even though I thought thats what I was paying for. Maybe I just got the regular nail art, but I've paid a lot less for a lot better. Now onto the nail art. She did a great job on the actual design. She took a really long time on the first finger to make it perfect and worked with me to change it a little and asked my feedback throughout. Once we got the design down she did the others quite a bit faster and they look great, I really do love them. I also waited two weeks to write this to see how my nails held up and they are still perfect, other than the natural growing out. No chips, not cloudy at all. My cuticles look horrid, but she didn't even touch them, which was part of my bad spa experience. The other issue I had was that I was getting a manicure and my mom and sister got pedicures. These happen in different rooms. Meaning I had to sit alone, which at regular salons isn't much of an issue but an "experience" place like this should have more options, so it was really awkward to sit with a cocktail and drink alone for an hour +. Also their pedicures were not great, and not worth the price at all. My mom's artist was incredibly confused with the nail art she wanted (a single flower on one toe, what she always gets at regular salons) so my mom finally said not to do it at all. Once we were finished up, we went to the bar and had champagne, mojitos and the little snacks and the bar tenders were great fun and the prices weren't as outrageous as I had expected. Overall, for me, it was a good experience (especially since I love my nail art and they lasted), but I would never go back. I would recommend people go at least once in their lives for the experience, maybe just to the bar though--the actual spa wasn't worth the money.
