| - It's hard for me to write reviews of Mexican restaurants in Las Vegas, because they all end up having the same outcome for me. Growing up in Los Angeles where there is good, authentic Mexican food everywhere, I've moved to Las Vegas and discovered that all of the Mexican food I've had here in Las Vegas so far is much like by butt.....very, very white.
La Comida is not really any different. It's rather white-washed and toned down. It's got great flavour, don't get me wrong, but it just seems to lack depth. We ordered their street corn as an appetizer, and let me tell you, it wasn't "street corn". It was "let's slap some stuff on this corn and call it street corn" street corn.
I will definitely, though, hand it to their bar tender. Their drinks here are PHENOMENAL! But, I don't go to Mexican restaurants for mixed cocktails. I go for Mexican food. Lol.
If you are downtown and want some light "Mexican inspired" food, try La Comida. And get a few of their cocktails. They're delicious. But if you're looking for some Mexican food that tastes just like abuela used to make, don't get your hopes up too high.
Would I come back here myself? Absolutely. The food is great, just not Mexican enough. Lol.
Would I recommend this place to others? You bet.
