I really wanted to enjoy my visit today but there was no way to. We arrived as a party of four at 1pm and were completely ignored for at least five minutes so we finally seated ourselves. My friend went up to the staff at the counter to ask if someone could come to clear up the dirty dishes from the previous customers still left at our table. She said she would but after another five minutes, we just cleared them ourselves.
The table was still filthy so we were hoping they would come to wipe it. That didn't happen. We chatted and took a little time enjoying the cafe and looking over the menu (which we picked up ourselves) giving the staff time to come over to us.
After another ten minutes I decided I would go up to the counter to order just to speed things along. I asked for four baguette sandwiches... they ran out of baguettes. Okay, so can we have croissant sandwiches?... Nope, they were out of croissant too. What type of sandwich can we have? Quiche. Seriously?? After over 20 minutes of waiting they only had quiche?! Why not tell us from the beginning that their half empty restaurant had almost run out of lunch options by 1pm?! I didn't see any other sandwiches go out to tables so they were out of these options when we arrived. There were three staff and about four tables occupied out of about ten. I don't think that's reason enough to ignore customers for so long!
If the service is this bad when the place is less than half full, how bad is it when they're busy? I do understand running out of certain lunch options but at least have the consideration to warn customers. We walked out and straight next door to eat at Lemongrass where we were appropriately served.
