  • I met with 7 companies before deciding on LV Yard Doctor for the backyard landscaping of our new build. Tim by far was the most professional and also seemed to just be an overall good guy. I met with some guys that were clearly sales people, indicating the more elaborate the yard the better. Tim listened to what I wanted for the landscaping and made suggestions here and there without being pushy. I think for a big project, communication is key. I've worked with companies where you literally have to hunt them down to get a response. Most if not all my questions were answered within a day, either via text message or by email. The staff at the office, Susan and Desiree, are also great at getting back to you as well. And trust me when I say I had lots of questions....I'm a micromanager and slightly OCD when it comes to details. I'm pretty sure I was annoying with my endless emails and text messages, but they responded to each and every question with patience. Our yard project was fairly substantial, we put in concrete steps with a river rock border into the yard, artificial turf with a fall pad underneath, concrete extension for an in-ground basketball hoop, built in barbecue area with a grill, smoker, and mini refrigerator, a custom water feature, river rock, plants/trees, and up lighting and path lights. Meeting with Tim and going back and forth with changes was easy. They provided all the documentation needed by our master and community HOA for approval. The project took a little longer than anticipated, but I think that usually happens with most projects (weather, obtaining materials, etc). I also added items to our yard along the way that probably added to the delay. We ran into one issue for our built in barbecue. I wanted the stone from the barbecue to match the stone on our existing outdoor fireplace. Unfortunately, Tim was unable to locate a small amount of that stone, it was only available in a large quantity. He even offered to drive to the distributor to pick it up if they would sell him a small amount. In the end he could not get the stone. So in order to make sure the fireplace and the barbecue stone matched, he removed the existing fireplace stone and replaced it with new barbecue stone that I picked without additional charges. I honestly did not like the existing fireplace stone so this was a pleasant surprise/bonus. I'm pretty sure other companies would say too bad we can't get the stone, here are your options and these are the additional costs. I think the integrity of the company in sticking to their original quote is something you will not find with other companies. LV yard doctor just finished our yard and let me say it is AMAZING. There is something for everyone, I have my zen water feature, my husband has his basketball hoop, and my daughter owns the rest of the yard with her toys (ha!). We have had compliments from everyone who has seen the yard. The 10 foot wide water feature definitely is the center piece of our yard, they did an amazing job turning my vision into reality. Although Tim is not on site everyday, he drops in throughout the process as well as his production manager. At the end, he does a final walk through to note small things that still need to be touched up (i.e clean some dirt/debris off stone on water feature, clean excess cement on side wall, etc). They also have a year warranty on the plants and so if anything does not make it, they will dig it up and replace it. I found them on Yelp without any neighbor recommendations, so I definitely took a gamble on a big project. I can definitely say I feel like a winner after the completion of this project. FYI they have a LV House Doctor company, check out my post there if you want house work done.
