  • Oh crap, I am letting out another secret by reviewing this place. I found this place by fluke while googling for something else photo related and was delighted to discover this photo equipment rental place in the west-end. The space is relatively small, but packed with everything you need. I remember going there the first time and it had a bit of a regulars vibe, but in a good relaxed way that made me want to join the club. The staff is knowledgeable but not in that snooty condescending way. Guy, Jennifer and Kat can take your rental reservation over the phone or over email and when you arrive to pick up your order they'll pull out the handwritten order sheet and bring out your bag of toys I mean rental equipment. They have a pretty full roster of cameras, lenses, lighting, grip and I assume video stuff too (I know nothing about video). The pricing is right in line with the big boys in the east end. For purchase they have a full rainbow of seamless backdrops, magazines, all the little doo-dads like cords and adaptors and also new Canon equipment. There is also a very small selection of used equipment sold on consignment. They are perhaps geared more to the pros than the hobbyist although an enthusiast friend I sent there had a fantastic experience. So please, west-end folks or otherwise, give Film Plus a try and drop your usual rental-counter-defenses at the door.
