  • In Soviet Russia, Giant Eagle grocery shops you! I'm sure that this grocery store would give any former residents of the Iron Curtain horrible flashbacks. I just moved to Pittsburgh, but I'm pretty shocked that this is the state of the grocery stores here. There is only one non-TJ's, non-WF chain grocery store?! Is there some local ordinance that enforces grocery store monopolies or something? Even towns 1/8th the size have more options! Reading the reviews where people are waxing nostalgic about this being the best grocery store ever and how they miss it so much completely puzzle me. Unless these people are currently in prison perhaps? I heard the grocery stores at prison are not so good. I did however, note that a Yelper from SF (always trustworthy) said the Giant Eagle in Homestead was good, so I will give that one a shot at least, but man oh man, do I feel sorry for people living in Squirrel Hill without cars....
