  • I wrote a review while I was waiting again at Ted Wein's with a dead battery today.. They were very unhappy with that review while I was there and said "don't appreciate the review". Fair enough... but I have never written an inaccurate review so if you want good reviews, simply earn them. I have bumped this up to two stars from one because they did resolve the issue I was there for today. The wrong battery was installed and it was D-E-A-D. There's no way that was my fault but I still had to hassle with being asked to pay for it and then explaining why I shouldn't have to pay. They did finally concede. I have another repair gone bad that I will need to return to get fixed and I hope they stand behind their work. Here's where Ted Wiens has gone wrong. First and foremost they never have enough mechanics/technicians. Why? Because they don't take appointments any more for many things. Exactly how can you have the right number of people there if you don't have any idea how many customers you will have. I used to be able to call, set a time to show up, have a call back within 30 minutes with a diagnosis and then go from there to plan the rest of the day or return for service, etc. It just doesn't run smoothly any more. Second area of improvement is diagnosing. I had one person earlier this year say I needed new struts. The next person said they were fine. When I experience something like that it's hard to not think about the horrible reputation mechanics have for ripping people off. I still don't know what's wrong but there's definitely something off with the suspension. Last but not least... stop the excuses. If you haven't scheduled enough people to work, it's not my fault. If you didn't know you needed a part to complete a repair and that causes a long delay, that's also not my fault. I know you tried to help me out with rides and a rental car after a long delay and I appreciate that, but I still spent quite a bit on Uber just getting to doctors's appointments while waiting for the unanticipated part. I hate having to act even half as angry as I feel when things get screwed up. Ted Wein's used to deliver the Nordstrom experience relative to other shops. Time to get back to that and re-earn your stars.
