I got in at 5:45pm and I knew it was going to be a long wait. They closed at 9:00pm that particular day. I finally got into the room around 10:00pm. The nurse told me I probably had pneumonia because I was wearing flip flops during the cold weather...he was serious. Doc came in, asked a few questions, berated me, and ordered a breathing treatment. Nurse gave me treatment. Asked if I felt better and I said no. I heard her go outside the room and the doc asked if the treatment helped and she said "yup, she's good to go." In fact, when she was in the room she noted that my oxygen saturation level had gone down after the treatment. At this point it was 10:45pm. I heard her and other nurse saying I could probably use a chest X-ray but it was too late. Sent me out the door with antibiotics, an inhaler, and cough syrup with codeine but paperwork that said "common cold." I called back and asked why I needed antibiotics for the common cold and they told me the paperwork was just standard and that according to their system I had "Upper Respiratory Infection." Ended up in hospital 36 hours later. Urgent Care facilities like are the reason people go directly to ER.
